Desafortunada sesión de calificación para Darryn Binder en Austria

El piloto de Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto3 comenzará desde la novena fila en el Red Bull Ring, perdiendo una mejor posición en los minutos finales.

Darryn Binder fue incapaz de completar el gran trabajo que habÃa hecho durante todo el sábado con un puesto superior en la calificación. En condiciones predominantemente húmedas en el Red Bull Ring, el sudafricano estuvo en su mejor momento en FP3 y QP. Solo unos desafortunados últimos minutos en la sesión de la tarde en una superficie semiseca impidieron que el piloto del Red Bull KTM Ajo se colocara más alto que el 27 °.
Los pilotos de Moto3 corrieron neumáticos mojados en FP3, y Binder fue uno de los que mejor se adaptó a las condiciones de la pista. Al principio estaba dentro del Top 10, y su sensación siguió mejorando hasta que fue más rápido con 13 minutos restantes. Al no hacer paradas en boxes, se mantuvo en el punto hasta los últimos dos minutos, en los que su 1: 44.428 lo ubicó en el tercer lugar.
La batalla para obtener la mejor posición en la parrilla comenzó con la pista completamente mojada una vez más. Binder salió seguro de poder repetir la gran actuación que habÃa mostrado en la mañana. El sudafricano demostró su potencial, montando entre los corredores más rápidos en todo momento y clasificándose en el Top 5 con 10 minutos para ir -1: 43.945, vigésimo séptimo. Sin embargo, la pista se secó, favoreciendo a los jinetes que habÃan apostado por los slicks.
Desde este lugar en la novena fila, Darryn Binder espera obtener un buen resultado mañana, sean cuales sean las condiciones. El concurso de Moto3 de 23 vueltas comienza a las 11:00 a.m. hora local.

«Hoy me fue muy bien en mojado, hasta los minutos finales de la sesión de calificación. Me sentà muy bien desde el primer momento en el FP3 con neumáticos mojados. También me sentà bien en la calificación, y estaba en un buen lugar durante toda la sesión. Fue solo en los minutos finales que no pudimos terminar el trabajo. Con 2 minutos restantes solo estaba a 0.9 de la cima, asà que no estaba tan atrás, y pensé que habrÃa sido Sin embargo, el resto de los pilotos cambiaron a slicks en su última vuelta y eso los hizo ir más rápido, perdiéndonos muchas posiciones. Es una pena, pero la carrera es mañana y estoy listo para hacerlo bien, sea cual sea el condiciones «.

Darryn Binder was unable to round off the great job he had done throughout Saturday with a top position in qualifying. In mostly wet conditions at the Red Bull Ring, the South African was at his best throughout FP3 and QP. Only an unfortunate final few minutes in the afternoon session on a half-dry surface prevented the Red Bull KTM Ajo rider from placing higher than 27th.
The Moto3 riders ran wet tyres in FP3, and Binder was one of those who adapted best to the track conditions. In the early going he was inside the Top 10, and his feeling kept on improving until he was fastest with 13 minutes remaining. Making no pit stops, he held onto the spot until the final two minutes, in which his 1:44.428 situated him in third.
The battle to get the best position on the grid started with the track completely wet once again. Binder went out confident of being able to repeat the great performance he had shown in the morning. The South African demonstrated his potential, riding among the fastest riders at all times and placing in the Top 5 with 10 minutes to go -1:43.945, twenty-seventh. However, the track then dried out, favouring those riders who had gambled on slicks.
From this spot on the ninth row, Darryn Binder hopes to get a good result in the race tomorrow, whatever the conditions. The 23-lap Moto3 contest starts at 11am local time.

«Today was going great for me in the wet, until the final minutes of the qualifying session. I felt really good right from when we set off in FP3 with wet tyres for the first time. I also felt good in qualifying, and was in a good spot throughout the session. It was only in the final minutes that we couldn’t finish the job. With 2 minutes remaining I was only 0.9 off the top, so it was not so far back, and I thought I would have been able to improve. However, the rest of the riders changed to slicks for their last lap and that made them go faster, losing us many positions. It’s a shame, but the race is tomorrow and I’m ready to do well, whatever the conditions.»
