PRESS RELEASE

A more sustainable Palma Boat Show

The 36th edition of the Palma Boat Show will feature various exhibitors whose main concern is the protection of the environment
Thursday 28th of March 2019, Palma.- The Palma International Boat Show, organised by the Balearic Institute for Business Innovation (IDI), will take place from the 27th of April to the 1st of May 2019 at the Moll Vell in Palma, and this 36th edition will have a clear focus on sustainability.

One could say that the boat show is challenging the sector to strive for new technologies which can improve aspects such as efficiency in electric and hybrid engines or emission-free engines, making it more mindful of its impact on the environment.

For this year’s edition the Palma International Boat Show will feature various exhibitors who uphold a strong philosophy of sustainability in the nautical sector. It will undoubtedly be a fantastic showcase of all the latest trends in the yachting industry.

Simplifying navigation, improving connectivity and efficiency and reducing emissions – these are just some of the objectives upheld by the firms showcasing their products and services over the five days of the event.

As for engines, innovation in electronics is becoming increasingly prevalent and higher levels of efficiency are being achieved, as far as consumption and performance are concerned. Visitors to the fair will be able to see new engines which are less noisy, emission-free, electric, more autonomous and hybrid engines (diesel and electric).

Also worth noting is the presence of some ship operators who work with electric boats, as well a ‘mestre d’aixa’ who makes more sustainable wooden and electric propulsion boats.

Apart from the products on offer within the framework of the activities scheduled for the boat show, a sea-cleaning day will be held on Saturday the 4th of May along Palma Bay, and there will also be other initiatives such as a refilling station for reusable water bottles and solutions for purifying sea-water to make it safe to drink.
