Darryn Binder at Misano

El piloto sudafricano finaliza octavo en el Gran Premio de San Marino, redondeando el fin de semana de forma positiva.

Darryn Binder dio la vuelta a un fin de semana complicado en el Circuito Mundial de Misano Marco Simoncelli este domingo, en la duodécima carrera del año. Realizó una brillante remontada desde el puesto 23 en la parrilla para colocarse en el octavo lugar, con lo que obtuvo un segundo Top 10 de la temporada.

El piloto Red Bull KTM Ajo tuvo un buen comienzo, subiendo al 19º lugar después de la primera vuelta y al 10º después del segundo, cuando muchos otros pilotos se cayeron. Binder luchó con el segundo grupo durante gran parte de la carrera, adelantando bien y compitiendo por el sexto lugar con otros tres corredores. Manteniendo el ritmo durante todo el certamen de 23 vueltas, cruzó la línea de meta en octava posición, a solo 7.3 segundos del ganador.

Después de haber obtenido 8 puntos en el GP de San Marino, Binder ahora tiene un total de 28, lo que lo ubica 22º en el Campeonato Mundial de Moto3.

La siguiente ronda tendrá lugar en MotorLand Aragón del 21 al 23 de septiembre, justo antes de la serie flyaway.

«Este fue un fin de semana muy difícil para Darryn [Binder] en Misano, en cuanto a las sesiones de práctica y calificación, pero hoy en la carrera hizo una gran remontada y montó muy bien. Tuvo la suerte de ganar lugares debido al choque en frente a él, pero debe tenerse en cuenta que tuvo un buen ritmo y no terminó muy lejos del ganador de la carrera. Espero que este resultado le dé confianza para las próximas carreras «.

«Estoy bastante contento con la carrera de hoy. Hemos luchado desde el 23º al 8º, en parte debido a algunos choques en frente nuestro. Nuestro ritmo fue bueno y constante en comparación con el que tuvimos ayer. No hicimos ningún gran cambio de Viernes o sábado, solo pequeños detalles, es solo que hoy en la carrera me sentí mejor cuando presioné. Estoy contento porque creo que estamos dando pasos en la dirección correcta y siento que todavía tengo mucho más para ofrecer. Creo que puedo llevar la lucha al frente del grupo pronto. Necesitamos quitar todos los aspectos positivos de este fin de semana y aplicarlos en Aragón, para comenzar allí de la misma manera que hemos terminado el fin de semana en Misano «.

South African rider finishes eighth at the San Marino Grand Prix, rounding off the weekend in positive fashion.

Darryn Binder turned around a tricky weekend at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli this Sunday, in the twelfth race of the year. He made a brilliant comeback from 23rd on the grid to place eighth, thus claiming a second Top 10 finish of the season.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo rider got a good start, riding 19th after the first lap and 10th after the second, when several other riders crashed out. Binder fought with the second group during much of the race, overtaking well and competing for sixth place with three other riders. Keeping his pace up throughout the 23-lap contest, he crossed the finish line eighth, just 7.3 seconds behind the winner.

Having claimed 8 points at the San Marino GP, Binder now has a total of 28, which places him 22nd in the Moto3 World Championship.

The next round takes place at MotorLand Aragon from September 21st to 23rd, just ahead of the flyaway series.

«I’m quite happy with today’s race. We fought back from 23rd to 8th, partly because of some crashes in front of us. Our pace was good and consistent compared to what we had yesterday. We didn’t make any big changes from Friday or Saturday, only small details; it’s just that today in the race I felt better when I pushed. I’m happy because I think we are taking steps in the right direction and I feel that I still have a lot more to offer. I think that I can take the fight to the front group soon. We need to take away all the positives from this weekend and apply them at Aragon, to start there in the same way that we have ended the weekend at Misano.»
