I am certain you will all want to know that Xue Zhao has won the top female prize of £12,000 in the Tradewise Chess Festival 2013. She drew after nearly five hours with top seed Vassily Ivanchuk. This is the second time she plays in Gibraltar (check out her Masterclass on our website).

Women’s Prize
31.1.13 – Chinese GM Zhao Xue has won the top female prize of £12,000. She drew her game after nearly five hours with top seed Vassily Ivanchuk and achieved a score of 7½/10. This is the second time she has played in Gibraltar, the first time being in 2007. Zhao Xue gave an insightful Masterclass on Tuesday. See it all here.
For the top Masters prize of £20,000 there will be a four-way play-off at 17.00 today. Details will be announced.

Please note that the first prize may not be shared. All other prizes shall be shared where players have the same score (except the Women’s First Prize). In the event of a tie for first place, there shall be a speed play-off. More here.
